About Emergency Appointments
It's important to learn the names of the "braces" parts, see the Brace Yourself (red) book for reference. It will help when you call the office to be able to identify what is broken or out of place. As a general rule, an emergency appointment may be made when there is severe pain, a loose band or bracket, a broken wire or something sticking out that you can't take care of. We have provided several times each day for Dr. Montgomery and the staff to see emergency patients. It is very important that you call the office and schedule your appointment during one of these times. This will ensure that you do not have a long wait before being seen. It will also ensure that when you come for your regular appointment you will not be kept waiting while someone else with an emergency is being seen.
Orthodontic Emergencies
Call your orthodontist right away if a broken appliance prevents the mouth from opening or closing, or if there is any other problem that cannot be resolved by the preceding instructions.
Athletic or other Injuries
Call 911 or your urgent care number first, then call your orthodontist if a serious face or mouth injury occurs anywhere near the braces.
Getting in Touch with the Office
You should be able to reach us during regular office hours by calling 651-765-1945 for the Shoreview office and 651-738-9060 for the Woodbury office. If you need help over a weekend or at night, there will be a recorded message giving you an alternate number to call for assistance.
