A board certified orthodontist, Dr. Montgomery celebrates 25 years in orthodontics. He has established a practice of excellence by providing his patients with state-of-the-art technology and quality care.
Dr. Montgomery is recognized among top orthodontists in America, earning the designation of Diplomate by the American Board of Orthodontics. Certification by the board is based on clinical proficiency and standards for dental specialists. A general dentist for eight years, Al served the U.S. Navy Dental Corp for four years, including duty in Japan, Arizona and San Diego.
Born and raised in St. Paul, Al was an outstanding athlete at St. Paul Washington High School. A state champion hurdler in both high and low hurdles. Al was recruited to play football at the University of Nebraska. He played for the Cornhuskers for two years, before returning to play football and finish school at St. Olaf in 2000; he was honored as one of St. Paul’s Top 100 athletes in the past 100 years. He is married to Janet Karvonen-Montgomery and they have four children. Janet owns and operates Janet Karvonen Basketball Camps. Dr. Montgomery enjoys all types of sports and is active at church.
